Registration

We took the subway to the convention center on Friday morning. We picked up our badges, transportation cards, and tickets for the Host Hospitality dinner. We obviously beat the crowd. The registration hall will be busier later today, and even more so tomorrow. 

Dong Yi

After the tour on Thursday we ate dinner at a nearby restaurant recommended by our tour guide, Dong Yi.

Jiufen Tour

On Thursday we tour the historic mining area near Jiufen East of Taipei.  Stops included the Golden Waterfall, Jiufen, and Houtong cat village. Paul Yang was our guide.

Hotel

For the convention we are staying at the Hotel Midtown Richardson. It isn't one of Rotary-affiliated hotels. It is located in central Taipei, but there is a direct MRT train from a nearby station to and from the convention venues. 

Cooking Class

We spent Wednesday morning at a cooking class learning how to make soup dumplings. It proved to be good activity for a rainy day. It has rained constantly since our arrival. 

Taipei Main Station

We had lunch on Tuesday at one of restaurants surrounding the caverness hall of Taipei

Main Station, a transportation hub for the city.

Arrival in Taiwan

After flying from Indianapolis to Seattle, we caught a China Airlines flight from Seattle to Taipei. We touched down about 4:30 am on Tuesday, June 9.
